Monster Muskie

Kevin Fricke, who has been vacationing at our resort since he was a kid, was recently featured on multiple twin cities news stations for catching this monster 52 inch Muskie. Below is a link to the video as it was featured on WCCO TV. His parents, Mike and Patti Fricke, along with his brothers Ken and Brian have been fishing Lake Shamineau for many years...even before we bought the resort back in 1974!

Internet Access

This posting is mainly to get feedback on how important having internet access is while on vacation.

We would appreciate a comment about how important it is to you. Would having wireless access in the lodge be enough or would you need access in your cabin?

Feel free to leave us a comment using the link below!

New Family

It may be hard to see in the picture (click on the image to see a larger view), but just beyond the swimming raft is a new family of geese...25 of them swimming along on this beautiful, calm evening on the lake!

This family of geese has stayed around the lake throughout the summer. We originally spotted them early this spring when putting out the first docks of the season!

One more item to mention. We apologize for the lack of postings on our resort blog. This is something new to us and we are working on bringing you more items of interest throughout the rest of the season...stay tuned!

Shamineau Evening

I had to take a picture of this! It was a perfect evening: calm lake, beautiful sunset and the crappies were starting to bite! I hope this picture comes through okay...I didn't have my digital camera on me and instead had to use a camera phone. A picture never really does justice, which is why you'll have to come see the views and check out the crappie bite for yourself here at the resort!

We hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!

We'll see you at the lake!

Cabin Fever

This is the time of year that cabin fever starts to set in for a lot of people - including myself. Thoughts of spring start to enter your mind - warmer days, snow melting, and the lake ice breaking up and turning into the crystal clear blue waters we've been dreaming of all winter!

It won't be too long and the spring work will begin at the resort. Right around the first week of April is when we begin to get the resort ready for the summer. The first jobs usually consist more of inside work...cleaning cabins and the lodge. As the days warm and the lake water temperature rises, we'll start getting the docks put into place. The sight of some of the first dock sections going out into the water always brings back memories of past resort seasons coming to a start!

Since the first season in 1974 up until last year, we have always had only wood docks. Almost all of them are 16 foot sections and up until last season, we put out almost 40 of the 16 foot dock sections (some of which you can see pictured in the photo). Last season we purchased 14 new 20 foot aluminum rollout docks. They worked well for us and we might look at purchasing more in the future. Even if we do purchase more, I think we'll always have some of the old wood docks around...there's just something about the look and feel of them that you can't seperate from a Minnesota resort!

We calculated the total docks we've put in since opening in 1974, and if you put them end-to-end, it would be over 3 miles! That's a lot of nails and pounding...and don't forget...black and blue thumbs!

Welcome to our family resort blog!

Thanks for stopping by to view our family resort blog!

Auger's Pine View Resort is a family-owned resort located in the center of Minnesota near Motley and close to the Brainerd Lakes Area. We have owned and operated the resort as a family since the purchase in April of 1974. We have 11 cabins and 47 campsites (mostly seasonal sites) with electric, sewer and water. I recently upgraded and re-designed our web site. It can be found at the following web address:

Auger's Pine View Resort

Our plan is to update this blog with various pieces of interesting information about the resort and the surrounding area. The posts during the off-season (November - March) will not be as frequent (one a week most likely), but will increase as we get into the resort season.

We hope you enjoy following this blog and encourage you to call us if you decide to make a reservation with us. We can be reached by phone at 1-888-705-5253 or on the web at Auger's Pine View Resort.

Thanks again for stopping by and we hope to see you back!
