4/18/08 construction update...

We finally have some new photo updates of the new 4 bedroom deluxe cabin!

We are very close to completing the new cabin and are very excited to show you some photos of our progress. Click on each of the photos below to see a much larger view. As you can see when viewing the photos, we are not 100% complete with the project, but since we are so close, we wanted to give you a feel for how it all came together.

We couldn't be happier with how well this project worked out and we hope you get a good feel for what the cabin looks like with the photos posted below.

For those that have this cabin already booked for the 2008 summer season we think you'll be extremely pleased with not only the warm and comfortable feel of this deluxe northwoods cabin, but also with the absolutely amazing views of the lake from the many window views! The north corner of the living room area has a view from the 2 picture windows that allow you to see the entire Lake Shamineau view, all the way from the sunrise view of the island to the east and all the way back to the sunset view of the west shore!

Enjoy the photos below and call us at 1-888-705-5253 to reserve your stay with us this summer!

We apologize again for the lack of recent updates to our resort blog, but we now have some photo updates to show you! We will post more updates as the construction progress continues.

Just a couple notes on the photos. As always, you can click on each photo to view a larger image. The wide angle view of the 4 bedroom cabin was 'stitched' together using 2 photos. You may notice that the photo doesn't look seamless and this is the result of having to manually stitch the photos together since we don't have a wide angle camera. Hopefully this photo will give you a better feel of the view you'll get from this deluxe 4 bedroom cabin!

Quick update...

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. The windows were just delivered for the new 4 bedroom deluxe cabin. Once those are installed, I will take some new photos and be sure to update the blog with them! All the walls are now framed, and the electrical, heating and air, and plumbing work is all getting started.

One additional note: The new 4 bedroom deluxe cabin will have central air. We also decided, as part of this new construction, to also add central air to cabin numbers 8 and 9, which are the 2 bedroom cabins located right next to the new 4 bedroom!

We now only have a small number of cabins without air conditioning, but will work on adding it to those in the next few years.

Take care,

The Augers

10/3/07 construction update...

The 3 photos above have been posted to give a better idea of the view you'll have in the new 4 bedroom deluxe cabin!

The photos do not reflect any new construction. Since this is a conversion of our existing lodge into the 4 bedroom cabin, we are still in the phase of taking things apart to get ready for construction. The roof trusses that you see in the photos will be removed to make way for new vaulted ceiling trusses. The living room, dining room and kitchen will all have these vaulted ceilings. The combination of the open feel of vaulted ceilings and this amazing view is going to be very exciting to see come together!

Here is a quick summary of each photo:

Top photo: Living room area with a great corner view!

Middle photo: Dining room with a partial kitchen view to the right

Bottom photo: Close-up shot of the great corner view of the living room

In order to get a better view of each photo, you can click on each of the photos and a larger image will be displayed.

New 4 bedroom deluxe cabin...remodeling photos

Our existing lodge is being converted into a new 4 bedroom deluxe cabin!

The above 3 photos show the start of our initial work of tearing everything out of the existing lodge so that we can start construction of the new 4 bedroom cabin. The photos give you an idea of the amazing views you'll have from this cabin, which sits right near the shoreline. The living room, dining room and kitchen area will have vaulted ceilings, with beautiful views of the lake in all directions giving you both a morning sunrise view and an evening sunset view!

The cabin will contain 2 bathrooms, one of which will be 9x20 feet and contain a whirlpool bath and separate shower.

The cabin will also have a fireplace for those early spring or late fall days. The look and feel of this new deluxe cabin is sure to provide you with that relaxing, northwoods appeal!

We look forward to posting updated photos of the cabin as the construction progresses on it!

Call us today at 1-888-705-5253 to reserve your week now!

Construction Begins...

The old shower house building has now been torn down, making way for construction to begin on the new lodge. We will continue to post updated photos of the construction progress for both this new lodge, and the conversion of the current lodge into the new 4 bedroom deluxe cabin!

One note of interest: the old shower house building was most likely constructed in the 1954 to 1955 timeframe. Once torn down, we found old newspapers and magazines dated around that time which were most likely used as partial insulating material.

Hungry Northern

A former seasonal camper at our resort, who now has a cabin on Lake Shamineau, found this Northern that tried to eat this Muskie for its meal! For those of you who may be skeptical of this picture, it is in fact a true, untouched photo that we decided to post on our blog for you to view and tell others about!

Pontoon Rentals

We purchased a new 2007 18 foot Weeres pontoon that is available to rent. The new pontoon is the tan colored one on the left hand side of the picture. Next to it on the right hand side is a 20 foot Weeres pontoon that is also available for rentals. Lake Shamineau has a great sandbar area for anchoring the pontoon to enjoy the sun or a nice swim. Take the family fishing, or just enjoy a relaxing evening cruise around the lake and take in the amazing sunsets. Call us at 1-888-705-5253 to reserve one of our pontoons!

Wireless Internet Access in the Lodge

We now have Wifi (Wireless Internet Access) in the lodge! We know one of the reasons you go on vacation is to get away from the office, but sometimes it's not always possible to get away for an extended time without checking in once in a while. For those times you can bring your laptop up to the lodge, sit down with a cold beverage, connect for a while...and then go back to your well deserved vacation!

Monster Muskie

Kevin Fricke, who has been vacationing at our resort since he was a kid, was recently featured on multiple twin cities news stations for catching this monster 52 inch Muskie. Below is a link to the video as it was featured on WCCO TV. His parents, Mike and Patti Fricke, along with his brothers Ken and Brian have been fishing Lake Shamineau for many years...even before we bought the resort back in 1974!
